Steps for Using Your Bamboo Whisk

Before use, rinse your bamboo whisk with lukewarm (never hot) water, then soak it for 1 to 2 minutes in lukewarm water.

After using your bamboo whisk, rinse it immediately with clean water, without soap.

Allow your bamboo whisk to air-dry completely, ideally in an upright position. Once thoroughly dry, it can be stored in its protective case.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should it be rinsed and soaked before the first use?

Soaking in lukewarm water softens the bamboo bristles. This prevents them from breaking during whisking and extends the whisk's lifespan.

Can I store my whisk in its Maison Hojicha box?

Yes, provided the whisk is perfectly dry. Once dry, it can be stored in its Maison Hojicha box.

Why use a bamboo whisk (chasen) rather than a regular whisk?

Our chasen whisk is specially designed for Hojicha. It dissolves the powder without crushing it and creates a fine, even foam.

How do I properly use my chasen whisk?

To use your chasen whisk correctly, whisk your Hojicha with an "M" or "W" motion, without pressing down on the bottom of the bowl.

What is Hojicha?

Hojicha is a roasted Japanese green tea, offering a smooth cup with toasted nutty and cereal notes, and very little caffeine.

Stemming from traditional expertise, it stands out for its roundness and lack of bitterness. It can be enjoyed hot or cold, at any time of day.
